About the event
Please join us for the opening reception for Art for the Masses, Not the Classes, an exhibition of the dynamic abstract artwork of De'Joneiro Jones. The artist will be there to greet us and tell us about his paintings over light refreshments. His artwork will be available for purchase.
A native St. Louisan, DeJoniero Jones's mantra is, "No Fear of Colors!" He uses bold lines, found objects and abstract forms to elicit a reaction from the viewer. Meaning is in the eye of the beholder and his work elicits a different response from each one, perhaps inspired by the themes in his work: social justice issues, the environment, architecture, green spaces, neighborhoods and the power of ancestors. Blocks, lines, shapes and splashes are inspired by nature, history, and artifacts. De'Joneiro strives to overcome the illusion of inclusion and avoid becoming the box they check.
