Cesare Venegoni

Cesare Venegoni is a self-taught artist born and raised in St. Louis. His work has been called by others “experimental abstract expressionism,” but he usually refers to it as “having fun with color”. He works in acrylics, but often starts with clear bases and builds the paint up from a variety of pigments, inks, and dyes to achieve precise colors or textures. His compositions vary, going from fluid softness to hard geometric, with occasional dips into pop art. Cesare often works on two pieces simultaneously, with one being a controlled composition of fine lines arranged with algorithmic precision, and the other a chaotic, freeform work of layered color play with no plan at all, allowing him to find a balance of chaos and order.
