Thanks to Ellen Soule, Individual Gifting Development Officer at Washington University in St. Louis, my business partner, Ellen Kenzora, and I were delighted to attend the March 21 St. Louis City SC game against the New England Revolution at City Park. We watched from the luxurious Washington University suite. Ellen Kenzora and I are both WashU alumnae and enjoyed connecting with other alums and staff.

City was looking for its first win of the season. New England was fresh off a 6-1 drubbing of Cincinnati in their last match. The home team got off to a slow start, down 1-0 early, but rebounded with a vengeance. Three unanswered goals by Simon Becher, Chris Durkin and Marcel Hartel sealed our first win. The third goal, a one-time trap and volley lob from midfield by Hartel over the diving goalie’s outstretched arms, is being considered for goal of the year.

We savored incredible food and drinks, including treats from a grilled cheese bar, three long buffet tables, coffee shop and dessert bar. Farmtruk Food truck delivered yummy sandwiches to each suite. We enjoyed mojitos while indulging in the overwhelming array of food. My favorites were the hot dogs, grilled to crispy perfection, and tender pulled pork sandwiches. Everyone’s dessert of choice were the massive slices of carrot cake. It was also Retro 1980s night and the first 10,000 fans received a free City wallet. Each person with a suite ticket had privileges to go anywhere in the stadium, including the sky deck and field level.

It was so much fun to be in a suite, especially our alma mater's, and root on St. Louis City SC to a huge victory.
